Facts About Saint Lucia

The island of Saint Lucia isn’t only known for its tourist spots and attractions. It also draws hikers and travelers from around the world with its natural beauty and atmosphere. With Caribbean citizenship, investors now have a chance to explore its rich underwater world too.

The nation of Saint Lucia is an eponymous island situated in the Caribbean Sea. Its main attractions are its magnificent scenery, mountain streams, waterfalls, many coves, nature reserves, stylish hotels and examples of colonial architecture.

There are two airports on the island, George F. L. Charles Airport and Hewanorra International Airport. The second, larger one regularly receives flights from Europe, Latin America and the United States, as well as from other Caribbean nations. Annual passenger traffic is close to 500,000 people. You can book a transfer to anywhere on the island directly at the airport.

Saint Lucia has a well-developed transport network. Holidaymakers can rent cars, yachts and even helicopters to get around the island, and these can also be used to reach neighboring islands. There are five large ports in the country, so it is perfectly possible to arrive by sea. All of this has helped bring a good number of tourists to the country.

Since 2015, the tourism market has made tremendous progress. In 2016, the Caribbean received 26.3 million cruise passengers, 1.3% more than the year before. In the first nine months of 2017, Saint Lucia was visited by 94,432 people, 14.5% more than in the same period of 2016.

St. Lucia regularly ranks highly in respected travel awards. In 2017, for the fourth time in succession, St. Lucia was announced as the "Leading Honeymoon Destination in the Caribbean" at the World Travel Awards. The nation has been awarded second place in the 'Best Place to Visit' category in the Caribbean rating, awarded by US News and World Report.

St. Lucia is the finishing point of an annual transatlantic sailing rally. Its underwater world is a true paradise for divers. St. Lucia is also renowned for its celebrations and street festivals. Since 1992, St. Lucia has held a jazz festival that runs for about two weeks and is regarded as one of the world’s five biggest jazz events, and in 2016 the first St. Lucia Dive Fest was held there.

Saint Lucian citizenship gives visa-free short-stay access to many countries, including the Schengen Area, and can be a solid Plan B for unexpected circumstances. It does not give a right to live in the EU, and the EU can now suspend visa-free travel for countries that run citizenship by investment programs. Since 5 March 2026, Saint Lucian citizens also need a visa to visit the United Kingdom, and they need a visa for Canada.
