What is Prince Edward Island PNP Immigration program?

Now let us shed light on the PEI PNP Program. Or to be specific the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program. To ensure economic welfare, the Prince Edward Island PNP Program was introduced in 2001. This program is mainly for immigrants who have extensive business ownership or management experience and would like to own and operate their own business in PEI. More than 2000 immigrants enter each year into the PEI province, after the introduction of the PEI PNP. The number is expected to grow higher in the coming years.

The PEI PNP has 3 categories, one enhanced and two base. The enhanced category is called the PEI PNP Express Entry category and the base categories are the Labour Impact and Business Impact categories.

The Canadian Express Entry system is used to manage PR applications through Canada’s main socio-economic class immigration programs. When a candidate is in the Express Entry pool, they are given a score based on the rules set by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) used by the Federal Express Entry System. The Express Entry draws happen frequently, where they invite some of the highest-ranking persons to apply for PR.

But for the immigrations not aligning with the Express Entry system, they are categorized under the Base streams. It is mainly for candidates who get a provincial nomination and need to apply directly to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

• Your profile must be created in the PEI’s Expression of Interest system
• A verification will be done

You need to provide accurate verifiable information. On any occurrence where there might be a change in information or status of yours post application, you need to submit relevant documents as is needed.

Expression of Interest is only an indication of your interest to move and do business in PEI. It is not an application. You will receive an email notification inviting you to apply. This email will have information which include your file number and instructions about how to submit your file.

The complete application package which includes the application and supporting documentation along with application fee can be submitted to the immigration office either in person or by post.

Once you receive your nomination from PEI PNP, you will have to submit your application for Permanent Residency Status to the IRCC. Your application should include your nomination certificate.
