This programme is permanently closed
The Saskatchewan Farm Owner & Young Farmer Stream no longer exists. Effective 27 March 2025, the SINP permanently closed all Entrepreneur and Farm immigration pathways. No new applications are accepted, no new expressions of interest are considered, and no further invitations to apply are issued.
Why it closed
In October 2024 the federal government halved Provincial Nominee Program allocations for 2025, from 110,000 to 55,000. Saskatchewan's share fell to 3,625 nominations — its lowest since 2009. The province responded by permanently closing its entrepreneur and farm pathways, saying so explicitly in its news release of 27 March 2025.
PNP allocations were partly restored for 2026, to 91,500 nationally. Saskatchewan has not reopened these pathways, and described the closure as permanent rather than a pause.
What it required, for reference
These figures are historical: a minimum farm investment of CAD $150,000, net worth of CAD $500,000 for the Farm Owner route or CAD $300,000 for the Young Farmer route, and a refundable good-faith deposit of CAD $75,000.
Is there another farm route into Canada?
Alberta's Farm Stream is still technically open, at CAD $500,000 net worth and CAD $500,000 equity. But Alberta has allocated only 60 nominations across all its entrepreneur streams for 2026, against 217 applications already in process. Routes into Canada that are still open
Canada has not closed down — the money-based federal routes closed, while the skills and provincial routes grew. For 2026 the federal government raised Provincial Nominee Program admissions to 91,500 (up from 55,000 in 2025) and held total permanent residence at 380,000.

- Prince Edward Island — Work Permit Stream — from CAD $150,000
- Newfoundland & Labrador — International Entrepreneur — from CAD $200,000
- Nova Scotia — Entrepreneur stream — from CAD $100,000
- Northwest Territories — Business Stream — from CAD $100,000
- New Brunswick — Business Immigration Stream — from CAD $150,000
- Manitoba — Business Investor Stream, Entrepreneur Pathway
- Yukon — Business Nominee Program — from CAD $300,000
Skilled and employment routes:
- Express Entry — four new occupation categories were added for 2026
- Provincial Nominee Program
- Global Talent Stream — two-week work permit processing

The province cited the federal 50% allocation cut, which left Saskatchewan with 3,625 nominations, its lowest since 2009.
